Description Of Services: Our Role as a Traffic Survey Consultancy AIR Ltd
As an experienced survey firm, research firm, and consultancy firm, AIR Ltd successfully executed the following key activities:
1. Development of Field Survey Plan
First, our experts designed a detailed field survey plan to ensure efficient data collection. The plan identified clear survey objectives and selected key locations. Furthermore, it outlined a precise timeline to capture both weekday and weekend traffic patterns accurately.
2. Pre-Field Visit and Assessment
Next, AIR Ltd conducted a pre-field assessment to evaluate conditions at Chashara Mor and EPZ Narayanganj. This proactive step helped our research firm identify site-specific challenges. Consequently, we fine-tuned our data collection strategy to ensure seamless execution during the main survey.
3. Recruitment and Training of Field Personnel
To manage the tasks efficiently, this consultancy firm recruited a highly skilled team of enumerators. Afterward, the team received rigorous training on high-definition video recording and vehicle classification protocols. We also trained them extensively on live population counting and on-site troubleshooting.
4. Continuous Video Recording
For robust data capture, our survey firm managed 48-hour continuous video recording at both locations. We split the recording into two periods to capture weekday traffic (Wednesday to Thursday) and weekend traffic (Friday to Saturday). This effort resulted in 192 hours of valuable video data covering multiple driving directions.
5. Live Population Counting
To complement the traffic data, enumerators conducted live population counting for specific vehicle types, including buses, large buses, and legunas. Our team stood roadside from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM to observe passenger counts. Therefore, we provided critical insights into public transport usage during peak hours.
6. Video Segmentation and Vehicle Classification
Next, our data analysts segmented the 192 hours of video data into 5-minute intervals for meticulous analysis. We carefully reviewed each segment to classify vehicles into 13 distinct categories. As a result, we provided a highly granular breakdown of local traffic patterns.
7. Aggregation of Vehicle Counts
To identify clear traffic trends, AIR Ltd aggregated the vehicle counts at different intervals. We utilized 15-minute aggregations to detect short-term trends. Additionally, we used hourly aggregations to map out broader trends and pinpoint peak traffic hours.
8. Data Cleaning and Quality Assurance
Finally, this consultancy firm implemented rigorous data cleaning and quality assurance processes. We verified vehicle classifications and cross-checked population counts to eliminate discrepancies. Ultimately, we delivered comprehensive, actionable insights into Narayanganj City’s traffic dynamics.
