Description of Services Provided: Parking Inventory Accumulation & Duration Surveys

The objective of this project was to support DTCA in gaining a detailed understanding of the parking scenario across the entire Dhaka city, focusing on inventory, accumulation trends, and duration of parking.

Key services delivered included:

  • Design and development of customized survey tools using KoBo Toolbox, tailored for collecting structured data on:

    • Parking inventory (available spaces and types)

    • Parking accumulation (how spaces are used over time)

    • Parking duration (how long vehicles remain parked)

  • Recruitment of qualified enumerators for large-scale field deployment across multiple zones in Dhaka.

  • Conducted comprehensive training sessions for enumerators to ensure accurate data collection, device handling, and field conduct.

  • Field implementation of surveys using mobile devices, covering both on-street and off-street parking across residential, commercial, and institutional zones.

  • Supervision and real-time monitoring of field activities to ensure data quality and consistency.

  • Cleaning, analysis, and interpretation of collected data, including visual representation of accumulation curves and duration profiles.

  • Submission of detailed analytical reports and raw datasets to DTCA for use in traffic planning, parking policy development, and congestion mitigation.
